We ALL ScReAm FoR IcE CrEaM! ..Homemade Ice cream, fun for the kiddos

My little niece Ellie has this adorable little shirt and an adorable little smile/scream to go with it and I couldn't resist in copying her shirt as my title! And to leave you with the adorable picture to go along with it :)

Isn't she just a cutie?

Anyways, ICE CREAM. Don't we all love ice cream?? If you answered no then there's seriously something wrong with you. Just kidding, but that's just a little weird ;). I found this quick and easy homemade ice cream recipe that is PERFECT for a little treat with the kid(s), and fun to make and they can certainly help out!

Katelyn, Nick, and I had fun doing it as an FHE activity/treat after our lesson. It's so easy and you almost always have all of these ingredients (minus the rock salt).

So here is the link:

Or just read the recipe here:
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk or half & half
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 tablespoons rock salt
  • 1 pint-size plastic food storage bag (e.g., Ziploc)
  • 1 gallon-size plastic food storage bag
  • Ice cubes
**I would double it for two people, or you can just have each person make their own bag! This recipe makes a single serving-- a little less if you ask me, especially while pregnant...**

How to make it:

  1. Fill the large bag half full of ice, and add the rock salt. Seal the bag.
  2. Put milk, vanilla, and sugar into the small bag, and seal it.
  3. Place the small bag inside the large one, and seal it again carefully.
  4. Shake until the mixture is ice cream, which takes about 5 minutes.
  5. Wipe off the top of the small bag, then open it carefully. Enjoy!

And here we are making the treat:
Katelyn really liked shaking the bag
I don't know what she was doing with her lips. She's doing it in the above and below picture. Silly
 Shaking the bag with mom
Oops, our bag has a hole! Luckily the ice cream was done before it started leaking :)

 Relaxing after our ice cream
 So happy
Cheese!
