Missing..

On Sunday I hopped in the shower to get ready for church. I take my rings off before showering and I set them on the counter.

I got out of the shower and a couple minutes later Katelyn woke up from her nap and came running in smiling at me. I was getting dressed, putting on my make up, talking to Nick and what not and she would run back and forth and play in our closet how she usually does while I'm getting ready.

I finished getting ready with everything and I went to grab my rings... and I only saw this one:

 Nick made this ring for me as a Christmas present. Yes, he made it out of gold, shaped it, designed the little heart and everything. I'm not sure if I blogged about it, but it was so sweet and means a lot to me. I only wear two rings this one and...

Yeah, my wedding ring. It wasn't there and I got a little nervous but thought what if I bumped it onto the floor while getting ready or something?

I looked all over the bathroom floor, but couldn't see it anywhere. Then I thought to ask Nick if he had taken it (because he's hidden it from me before-- yes very cruel, he thought it was funny. ha) He said no, and I said "I'm serious babe, you need to tell me if you took it or not, I can't find it." Then he assured me that he absolutely had not touched it.

So of course, the next person I would turn to would be my sweet little baby, Katelyn. I was just thinking "oh my goodness if she took it this is bad" A lot of times she'll take things and then I ask her where she put it and she can't remember. So I got down, looked at her, and pointed to my finger and said "Katelyn, where is mommy's ring?"

She kinda just looked at me and skipped off to our closet.. And she stuck her hand in this little hole.

We have these shelf things in our closet to hold more stuff and the poles to put them together have a hole at the top. I quickly started trying to take the pole apart, Nick had to help me in the end and it popped off and about 10 items fell down through the tube. Yup, she had a stash of things that she wanted to keep hidden. I call it her "secret hiding place" guess it's not so much a secret anymore.

There was just a bunch of random and not so random stuff. Stuff that had gone missing and we had no idea where they went, so we just stopped looking. Like.. her toothbrush and my eyeliner brush. Random curlers she gets from my drawer, a straw (she loves playing with straws). And most importantly...

My wedding ring. I was so relieved. I'm just glad Katelyn remembered and actually told me where she had put it.

 She was so crazy happy when she saw everything fall out! I think she puts it in there then can't get it out obviously so she just leaves it as it is and doesn't say a word.

 She even tried putting more in right after! I had to stop her.

Kids teach you important lessons. I should have already known she'd be able to grab my ring off the counter, I'm going to have to keep it far away from now on.
