Well, Jacob came really fast so you would think this post would be short, but knowing me it'll most likely be long.. just warning you.
On Sunday the 1st day of the New Year things were great. We went to church, we got released from nursery that day so I had one last Sunday School and Relief Society kid/baby free (well almost, Katelyn decided she didn't want to stay in Nursery with out her parents, since we've been in there the first day she went into Nursery I can't really blame her).
We came home from church and enjoyed our Sunday. Fast forward to about 10:30 at night. Around that time I was sitting on the couch with Nick on my Ipod. I had braxton hicks through out the last several weeks of my pregnancy, but they never hurt and they were always up at the top of my stomach. My first contraction came and it was painful and down low. I thought it was weird I'd never felt any thing like it before so I didn't really even know it was a contraction (with Katelyn I was induced so the whole experience was different). I told Nick after a few of those "I"m having these weird pains, I think they might be contractions." About 11:00 p.m. I tried going to sleep. I remember lying down and I had one that was a lot more painful and a lot longer. I got up and told Nick I wouldn't be able to go to sleep.
About 1/2 hr later I had been having them every 5 minutes apart. By this time it was midnight and I kept telling Nick I wouldn't go to the hospital until the morning so I could find a babysitter for Katelyn and I could be here with her during the night. I laugh now thinking what if I had waited longer. So around 12:30 the contractions had been at 5 mins for an hr and I told my mom. She told me I needed to go to the hospital, but I told her I didn't want to leave Katelyn. Then my sister texted me saying the same thing and my mom called and told me not to wait so I kind of started freaking out thinking "what if they are right, what if I need to go". So, I told Nick we better find someone to come watch Katelyn. We called/texted a few people and of course no one was awake at one in the morning.
Sometime in between the hr of my contractions at home my water broke. Right after I used the bathroom I stood up washed my hands and started walking out of the bathroom and I felt a trickle down my leg. I thought in my head "What the heck I just used the bathroom, seriously?" Then I thought maybe my water had broke, but I couldn't tell because it wasn't very much.
Finally close to 1 a.m. a friend of mine called me back. She raced over to our house and we took off to the hospital. The contractions were painful, but not any where near the point where I couldn't handle it. Without thinking we got to the hospital, walked to the main entrance, and remembered it was one in the morning and we had to go to the E.R. so we went back to the car, drove around to the other side and went in.
They took me up and I got ready to be checked. First the nurse checked to see if my water had broke, then she checked for dilation. While she was checking my cervix she said, "Ok, you're water has ruptured.." then she gave me a weird look and continued "..And you're at a 7."
Nick and I were in shock. I had no idea because I felt like when we were going in the contractions weren't strong enough and that I'd only be a 2 or something and they'd send me home. The nurse called upstairs and said "I've got a woman down here in labor at a 7 and her water has ruptured. Do you think we'll have time for an epidural?" I kind freaked out in my head and thought "You better have time for an epidural."
They raced me up to L&D and I waited for my epidural. I waited and waited because they didn't have some lab results of mine and they needed them before giving me the epidural. By the time I got the epidural I was at an 8-9. At that time it was around 2:30 a.m. About half an hour later I was feeling tons of pressure and pain. I told Nick I was ready to go because it was the same feeling I had with Katelyn right when I was ready to push. He got the nurse and she checked me and said, "Yup, you're complete and ready to push".
She slowly started getting stuff ready. I could tell she was taking her time waiting for my doctor to get there. So 3 o clock ish I was ready to push. They called my doctor and he said he was on his way. We waited for about 35 mins and they decided they better call him again. He had fallen back to sleep... so I waited about another half hour (yeah, an hour total sitting there in those stirrups and every contraction feeling the urge to push) for him to get there.
He got there and I pushed and I don't know why, but it hurt a lot. I felt like I didn't have an epidural and I could feel it all. Finally after about five or ten minutes of pushing his head came out and the cord was wrapped around his neck. Nick was able to then jump in and my doctor let him deliver Jacob as the rest of his body came out.
As soon as his whole body came out he let out this little cry. Then they put him on my chest. It was an amazing thing. Just like with Katelyn things felt so perfect. I can't believe I have a sweet little boy now. He makes me so happy. I love my little kiddos so much, they are mine and Nick's greatest blessings. Recovery has been 10 times better this time around. I'm so glad to be strong and healthy so that I can take care of my two kids.

Sounds like he came really quick! He sure is a cutie! Congrats!
Haha, I'm glad you didn't wait much longer! I hope my next time around is that quick and easy. And same with the recovery; that would be wonderful! He's so cute, just like his big sister :)
Jacob is so cute!! I love all your pictures but haven't been able to read your blog:( I can only see the pictures. We only use our phones for Internet and for some reason all I get is the green title and a red background with pictures.
Hope all is going well with your cute family and your new addition! It is so much fun having two kids and watching them grow and interact together! Congrats again on the arrival of Jacob! He really is such a cute little guy!
