This post, and others to soon follow, will kinda review what we've been up to over the last year. We wish we had started this a long time ago, but oh well.
13 months ago we got engaged in Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. It was a pretty sweet day. My brother Daniel and his wife, Julie (girlfriend at the time), flew out to Colorado with Dana and I to visit our family and see Syd in one of her dance performances. Daniel and I both had planned on proposing that week, but weren't sure how to do it. Each girl, Dana and Julie, knew that the other was going to be proposed to that week but had no idea they'd end up engaged as well. To keep the story short, I'll just cut right to it. The four of us went on a hike at Garden of the Gods. A few minutes into the hike, I told Dana that we should go ahead of the other two and let Daniel pop the question. Daniel whispered to Julie that they should slow down and let us go ahead so I could do the same. The moment had come. Once we got to a nice overlook point, we sat and talked and took some pictures for a few minutes. Then, when we were about to head back down, I started telling Dana how much I loved her and appreciated her. I did the whole "get on one knee" deal and and asked, "Dana Marie, will you marry me?" oh golly. She said no. Haha, she said yes. It was pretty cool. I whipped out the ring and slipped it on her finger. Success!!
So we were engaged! When we finished our little hike, we met up with Daniel and Julie and now all four of us were engaged. It was a pretty cool day. There are a bunch of details that I left out. I remember it like it was yesterday (so does Dana), so if for some odd reason you need to know "the rest of the story," tell me and I'll have Dana tell it.
